OLMC proudly continues to implement our "Happy Kids" program which began in 2008. The program is based on the book “7 Habits of Happy Kids” by Sean Covey. The principles that are taught empower kids to take charge and the catch phrases of this book will become common language at OLMC as we incorporate it into areas of learning and play. We invite you to view the 7 Habits and engage in a discussion with your children.

March will be about Habit 5 which is Seek first to understand, then to be understood. In short listen before you talk. As Sean Covey says “we were taught to read, write, and speak but we are not taught how to listen, which is the most important communication skill of all”. Listening is only 10% of what we hear. It is body language and tone of voice that tells the rest of the story. The Happy Kids crew will be preparing activities that will drive home the main idea of this habit. Here are a couple of engaging questions that you may ask your child. How does our school motto tie in with this habit? Who listens to you and what makes them a good listener? Have a great March!
